Alas it has happened .Just this evening,President Muhammadu Buhari has directed that all military checkpoints across Nigeria be dismantled immediately, the News Agency of Nigeria quoted the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Aliyu Ismail, as saying.
Details of the directive are still sketchy though, and it is unclear whether checkpoints in states in the North-east, set up in the wake of the Boko Haram insurgency, would also be removed.
