NYSC urges prospective Corps Members to be patient.

According to reports from THE VANGUARD NEWSPAPERS, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has appealed to the 2016 Stream 2 Batch A prospective Corps Members to be patient following delay in their mobilization. 

The NYSC Director of Information in Oyo State, Mr Stephen Bankole made the appeal in an interview in Ibadan. The appeal followed protest by some of the affected graduates on May 25 in Ibadan over the delay in mobilising them to camp. 

Bankole said the NYSC shared in their pains and was working assiduously to call them to camp soon. “NYSC depends solely on budgetary allocation from the Federal Government and all hands are on deck waiting for fund to be released for the scheme. “The Director-General has the well-being of the members as the number one agenda in his heart and he will do everything possible to make them comfortable. “So please, the incoming members should be at peace, they will surely be mobilised as the Director-General has promised,” Bankole said.

PAYMENT OF N5000 TO UNEMPLOYED WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT~ MINISTER OF STATE, LABOUR.

For those hoping to cash in on the APC led government's N5000 unemployment stipend social scheme, well you might have to think again because words coming from Mr James Ocholi, the minister of state for labour and employment, has revealed that the lack of a database with a comprehensive list of employed and unemployed Nigerians is affecting the process of paying the N5000 stipend the government is planning to pay unemployed youths.

One of the campaign promises of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is to pay unemployed youths in the country and this has also been reiterated by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Reports from Vanguard state that Ocholi said in Abuja on Wednesday, January 20, that the government was enlisting the help of experts who were already working on compiling the list of unemployed.

He added that the government also planned to provide jobs to the unemployed graduates.

“Before we got to where we are, there was no data anywhere. There is no data of the unemployed. In fact there is no data of the employed. It is a bad situation.”

“As I talk with you, there are experts working on the software on the various things which we have discussed with them on how to capture the details of the unemployed and the employed.

And for those who are employed, there are many who are in wrong places; there are many who are in jobs and they are not enjoying the job and who want to have a job better than what they are doing.

“There is a firm that we have sourced for, working with the National Directorate of Employment, (NDE) right now.

NDE has done a pilot scheme in Bwari and they have an office in Lobito crescent right now working in preparatory for a mega scale on job proffer.

“What it takes to get that data ready is part of our work. Our work does not begin when the data comes out because the data itself does not employ people.”

We will look at what is the nature of the skill that can be acquired within the period of time, what do we do to sustain those people that will acquire the skill and while acquire those skills what stipends can be paid to them to keep them in the training so that while being trained you earn something.

That will bridge the gap between now and when they open their shop and begin to employ labour”.

Meanwhile, the federal government revealed that only hard working Nigerians who are unemployed would be paid the N5,000 stipend promised by the APC.

TRAGIC! 22 YEAR OLD PREGNANT HOUSEWIFE RAPED AND BUTCHERED IN KANO STATE.

According to SAHARA REPORTERS, a 22-year-old pregnant housewife, Aisha Abdullahi, pictured above, was found raped and murdered at her home in Kano yesterday January 20th.

 Sources at the Kano state police command say the husband, Abdullahi Mohammed, came back from an outing and met his wife defiled and in a pool of her own blood.

The state Police spokesperson, DSP Musa Magaji Majia, while confirming the incident, said a full scaled investigation has been launched by the police.

The deceased, who was known to be pregnant, was found in a pool of blood when her husband returned home and discovered her body.

The Police in Enugu State have arrested a suspected ritualist, identified as John Igwe for being in possession of human head.

Reports from several major news outlets say that the suspect was on his way to Abakiliki for money ritual before he was arrested by men of the Enugu State Police Command.
John confessed that he has struggled so much to earn a living but to no avail, adding that he ran into a friend who introduced him to a native doctor.

According to him, “he took me to a native doctor in Abakiliki and I was asked to go and bring human head. I was going there with the human head when I was arrested.”
Asked what he wanted to achieve with the ritual, he said “It is for money; I have suffered so much in life”.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the State, Nwodibo Ekechukwu, who paraded him alongside other suspects on Wednesday, said the command had recorded several break-through in its war against criminal elements.
According to the Commissioner, “on 16th of this month, at Amaechi-Idodo, along Enugu-Abakiliki Express Way, our men intercepted a Toyota bus conveying three passengers; on searching the vehicle, they discovered a human head.

“Investigation revealed that one John Igwe from Efiom in Ebonyi State was in possession of the unlawful object.

“On interrogation, he said he had suffered a lot, breaking stones to make a living, and later met a friend, who introduced him to a native doctor, known as Ifeanyi. The native doctor, thereafter, requested him to bring human head for the ritual that will be made available to him”.

Some folks have come out to term this judgement as barbaric and cruel. but as for me i am one who still believes in the old testament form of judgement of AN EYE FOR AN EYE. Anyway, reports from VANGUARD NIGERIA says that an Akure High Court, yesterday, sentenced two domestic staff of former Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA, Professor Albert Ilemobade, to death by hanging.

The convicts, Daniel Itah Effiong and Bamitale Olayemi, were the security/gate man of the 79-year-old former Professor of Veterinary Medicine, and driver, respectively.

Delivering judgement, Justice Williams Olamide found them guilty of the three-count charge of conspiracy to murder, murder and robbery.

They were accused of strangulating the deceased to death in his residence at Ijapo Estate, Akure, Ondo State, on June 21, 2015, and stole his Toyota RAV 4, 2013 model and N7000.

The offence, according to the prosecutor, who is the State Director of Public Prosecution, Mrs Adejoke Tuki, was contrary to and punishable under Section 324 of the Criminal Code Cap.37 Vol. 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

It will be recalled that the two domestic staff, after they murdered their boss, dumped his corpse in a store/generator house before they fled.

Security operatives and family members of the late professor had thought he had been kidnapped until detectives in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, arrested the domestic staff while they were about to sell the stolen car for N400,000.

The dealer, who wanted to buy the car became suspicious because the market value was N5 million. He informed police and the suspects were arrested.

They led the detectives from Ogun State to the Ijapo residence of the late professor and showed them where they dumped his corpse.

LASSA FEVER WAHALA. DEATH TOLL HITS 40.

Last Friday, The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the Federal Government put the death toll of Lassa fever as 40 out of 86 reported cases in 10 states. The number of the suspected cases has now risen from 86 to 93.

The Senate summoned the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, over the outbreak of the disease and he confirmed it in Abuja, at a joint ministerial news conference on the update of the outbreak of the disease.
He said:

“In the last 48 hours, the government raised a four-man expert committee, chaired by Prof. Michael Asuzu, to visit Kano, Niger and Bauchi, the three most endemic states. The committee will embark on a fact-finding mission, assess the current situation, document response experiences, identify gaps and proffer recommendations on how to prevent future occurrences.”
The minister assured the public that the task of the committee was not to blame anyone or agency but to document lessons learnt for better planning.

Adewole advised communities to improve on their hygiene and have better food hygiene. He also implored the public to avoid contact with rodents especially rats, as well as food contaminated with rat’s secretions and excretions.
He also said to avoid drying food in the open and along roadsides, he added that it is also important to cover all foods to prevent rodents contamination.

According to him, the affected states are Bauchi, Nasarawa, Niger, Taraba, Kano, Rivers, Edo, Plateau, Gombe and Oyo.

5 DIE! 13 INJURED IN AUTO CRASH IN OGUN STATE.

No fewer than five people have been confirmed dead, while 13 others were critically injured in an accident, which occurred yesterday afternoon along the ever-busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The accident, which occurred at the “Eldorado” axis in Ayetoro village in the Mowe corridor of the expressway in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Council of Ogun state, involved a DAF truck with registration number (OYO) GNN 774 XA and a white Mazda passenger bus marked (LAGOS) APP 36 XA.

The accident was caused by the white Mazda passenger bus travelling outward Lagos on top speed, which lost control and rammed into the stationary DAF truck.

The gist is that in the past week alone, at least 7 girls have been found dead in a manner that depicts a ritual style killing. The ladies are usually found stripped, and some even had their heads and breasts chopped off.  According to my source who lives in the IKORODU axis of Lagos state, "The rate at which Naija girls gets butchered for Blood Money is really getting out of hand.
